Loučky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Loučky combines protected nature with an unusually rich local history. The village is located in the Český ráj Geopark; at the same time, a cycle path and a hiking trail pass through Loučky, while cultural monuments, a small museum and traces of local community life add distinctive character.
Culture and History
One of the defining buildings is Kostel sv. Antonína Paduánského. The simple rural Baroque church was built by the aristocratic Des Fours family between 1787 and 1790 and has been protected as a cultural monument since 19 January 2009. In the cemetery near the entrance there is a valuable 19th-century crucifix.
The former school building in Loučky now serves as the “Výstavní zastavení” exhibition space and municipal office. Around 3 m² of the exhibition can be seen there. In the small museum, visitors can view the Loučecký nativity scene and learn about the history of Loučky and the life of the teacher and prominent local native František Hořák. A commemorative plaque on the façade of the Sokolovna also commemorates František Hořák. The “Výstavní zastavení” also displays a fragment of the original church bell dating from 1862.
The present-day school building is also part of the village’s historic character: it was built between 1882 and 1883 and has essentially retained its appearance to this day. Community life is documented by TJ Sokol Loučky, which was founded on 19 November 1903; its statutes were approved on 26 February 1904.
Nature
The Podloučky natural monument also includes the cadastral area of Loučky. It protects communities of xerothermic grassland as well as preserved species-rich beech forests containing particularly protected species. The particularly protected plants found there include red helleborine, white helleborine, spring cinquefoil, Turk’s cap lily and cross gentian.
A wild pear tree grows along the road to Fialník and was declared a memorial tree in 2023. At the southern edge of Loučky there is also a fossil site described as the most important site of Middle Turonian fossils in Bohemia.
Cycling and Hiking Trails
The green cycle route No. 4099 from Malá Skála to Chutnovka runs through Loučky. The blue hiking trail from Malá Skála to Rotštejn also passes through the village.
