Ktová: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Ktová is located near Trosky Castle at the confluence of the Libuňka and Veselka streams.

Nature

The western half of Ktová lies within the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area. In the northern part of the Ktová area lies the Libuňka Natural Monument. It protects a natural watercourse with typical meanders and riparian vegetation that serves as a habitat for protected animal species.

Ktová is also home to the Jasan U matičky memorial tree, an ash tree 15 metres tall with a trunk circumference of 440 centimetres.

Hiking, Culture and History

The Kost–Trosky hiking route passes through Trosky and ends in Ktová.

A stone reconciliation cross stands on the road to the settlement of Kabáty and is one of the few surviving examples in the Turnov region. In the Middle Ages, reconciliation crosses served as a punishment or as an agreement with the injured party, which was decided by a court.

The village square in Ktová is home to a statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary erected in 1890 and funded by donations from local residents. It is surrounded by its original wrought-iron fence. The Žampach Mill at house number 29 has also survived to this day. Several noteworthy timber-framed log houses and masonry houses add to the character of the village.

Transport and Village Development

A state road built in 1809 runs through the centre of Ktová. The railway reached Ktová in 1903.
