Bradlecka Lhota: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Bradlecká Lhota lies at the foot of a hilly massif where the ruins of Bradlec and Kumburk castles are located. In the village and its surroundings, sacred art, historic buildings, regional heritage and distinctive landscape features come together.

Culture and Local History

At the southern end of Bradlecká Lhota, the statue of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary stands at a crossroads of farm tracks. It is approximately 4 metres high and carved from light-coloured fine-grained sandstone; it can be reached via two stone steps. The inscription on the pedestal gives the year 1850.

The Chapel of Saint Ludmila in Bradlecká Lhota was built in 1901 in the historicist style. Theatre has been performed in the village since 1900, and the village is also home to the sculpture group “Coronation of the Virgin Mary”, dating from 1850.

The historic villagescape includes a series of timber cottages with carved gables dating from the 19th century. A memorial plaque on the former school commemorates the teacher and regional historian Josef Jan Fučík.

The former timber water mill Dolení, or Babákův, House No. 41, is located in Bradlecká Lhota and was first mentioned in writing in 1568. A fragment of the mill machinery with a remarkable gear mechanism in the lower structure has been preserved in the mill room.

Landscape and Views

The fields around Bradlecká Lhota are considered rich in semi-precious stones, particularly agates. In the vicinity of Bradlecká Lhota, several surviving walls and the remains of a square tower can be seen at the ruins of Bradlec.

In the vicinity of Bradlecká Lhota, the summit of Kumburk reaches 642 metres and offers wide-ranging views over the surrounding area. Tábor is also located nearby, a long, wooded hill at an elevation of 678 metres that characterises the surrounding landscape. A lookout tower stands on Mount Tábor in the vicinity of Bradlecká Lhota, offering further views across the landscape.
