Bílá: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Bílá and its cultural surroundings reveal history through preserved buildings, religious traditions, and remarkable traces of settlement. In Letařovice, the Church of Saint James is documented as early as 1363. Its interior preserves wooden coffered ceilings and traces of medieval wall paintings. Also in Letařovice, the festival Pouť mezi dvěma Jány includes a traditional Corpus Christi procession.

Culture and history

North of Bílá, on the road from Český Dub to Petrašovice, stands a Baroque chapel originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was built in 1773 and restored in 1881. A wooden house dating from 1833 stands in Bílá’s village square. A former manor farm in Bílá is already mentioned in the land register of the Český Dub estate from 1567; the writer Karolina Světlá set the plot of her novel Nemodlenec in this former manor farm. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity bears the painted year 1733 on the frieze of its façade.

Landscape and ancient settlement

The fortified hilltop settlement of Klamorna lies on a rocky promontory above the confluence of the Oharka and Mohelka rivers. Its acropolis was protected by a double rampart fortification. The fortified hilltop settlement is associated with the Eneolithic, the Bronze Age, and the High Middle Ages.

Cycling route

Regional cycling route No. 3049 Trávníček–Pěnčín–M. Rohozec connects Bílá to Proseč pod Ještědem in the north and to Vlastibořice near Sychrov in the south.
