Vřesová combines a documented settlement history with two marked cycle routes that run through the village. At the same time, sports facilities, dedicated pedestrian paths, and routes through the countryside meet here in an area with several distinctive place and landscape names.

Local History and Industry

The original municipality of Vřesová ceased to exist in 1958. The present-day settlement emerged from houses built for the assembly workers of Palivový kombinát 25. únor Vřesová. The development of the industrial site is also clearly dated: the first part of Palivový kombinát Vřesová to be put into operation was a coal-crushing plant, opened in 1965; a pressure-gasification plant was commissioned in 1969.

The older history of the village includes a simple chapel built in Vřesová in the 19th century. The former chapel was demolished in 1959 together with the settlement's original buildings. The historic settlement of Vřesová was located on the road from Chodov to Jindřichovice.

Sports and Cycle Routes

The sports field in Vřesová is equipped for tennis, small-sided football, foot tennis, basketball, and volleyball. Cycle route No. 2043 Vřesová–Stříbrná and cycle route No. 2227 Vřesová–Přebuz run through Vřesová. The marked cycle routes begin at the “Vřesová – rozc.” cycle-route signpost at the intersection of roads III/21035 and III/20912.

Paths in the Village

No marked hiking trail passes through Vřesová. The main pedestrian routes run along road II/222 on dedicated footpaths. A path through the countryside connects the “rozcestí” bus stop with the Sokolovská uhelná, a.s. transport company premises.
