Culture and History

The Rudenský water channel is still largely preserved today. It is 12 km long and was constructed around the middle of the 16th century to bring water from the Chaloupky valley for the processing of tin ore.

The former Stricke Chapel in Vysoká Pec was demolished in the 1950s; only overgrown remains of the walls near two maple trees have survived. It stood on the old road from Liščí kout (Fox Corner) to Nové Hamry, and processions used to lead from the former Stricke Chapel in Vysoká Pec to the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Rudné.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Rudné has a pseudo-Romanesque high altar, two opposing Rococo side altars and a Rococo pulpit.

Nature and Landscape

The nature reserve in Vysoká Pec protects rare wetland plants, especially round-leaved sundew; it was designated in 1995 in part of the municipality.

Šafránová louka was registered as a significant landscape feature in 1999. The highly endangered white-flowered crocus grows on Šafránová louka.

Díže, Rudenský Špičák, Tisovský vrch and Perninský vrch are mountains in the vicinity of Vysoká Pec.

In the wider regional surroundings of Vysoká Pec are the Schlackenwerth monastery and three churches: “Zwota Church”, “Albernau Parish Church of St. John” and “Aue Church of St. Nicholas”.
