Klein-Werscheditz: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Klein-Werscheditz offers a glimpse into the history, cycling route and nature around Verušičky and Týniště. The past is particularly evident in the buildings and memorial sites of Verušičky, while Týniště has its own distinctive character with an important habitat for rare amphibians and regular wading birds.

History

The château in Verušičky originated from a Renaissance fortress commissioned by Volf ze Štampachu in the mid-16th century. The Renaissance granary in Verušičky also dates from the same period and was likewise built by Volf ze Štampachu. The granary was completely reconstructed from 2016 to 2020.

The Verušičky war memorial commemorating the victims of the First World War recalls more recent history. It was erected in 1920, restored at the beginning of the 21st century and supplemented with an inscription plaque for the victims of the Second World War. The memorial was designed and probably also executed by the stonemason V. Hacker from Doupov.

Chapel

The late Baroque Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands on an inconspicuous hill in the southeast of Verušičky. It was built in 1740 and ceremonially consecrated on October 19, 1740. Its complete reconstruction was carried out from 2015 to 2022 and included conversion into an exhibition and concert hall.

Nature

In the European-significant Týniště locality, populations of the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina) and the great crested newt (Triturus cristatus) occur, along with their habitats in an unnamed pond and the adjacent wet meadows. The landscape there is characterized by a shallow pond with a wide shoreline zone, dry pastures and degraded meadows.

Wading birds occur regularly in Týniště. At the same time, the locality is one of the most important sites for the fire-bellied toad in the Doupov Mountains area.

Cycling Route

Cycling Route 2249 runs through the northern part of the municipality of Verušičky. It is predominantly paved; the section between Lučiny and Čínov is gravel.
