Vrchlabi: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Vrchlabí, historic buildings, waterside educational trails and the visitor centre of Krkonoše National Park come together. Between the château, churches, museums and nature-oriented paths, a diverse picture of this town in the Giant Mountains emerges.

History and culture

Vrchlabí Château is a Renaissance château completed in 1546. In summer, guided tours with commentary are offered at the château, providing access to rooms that are normally inaccessible as well as the chapel. St Lawrence's Church stands on the site of an originally Gothic single-nave church from the 14th century. The Baroque complex consisting of the Augustinian monastery and monastery church is also part of the historic townscape and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The Krkonošské muzeum – Čtyři historické domky is an ensemble of four gabled houses in Vrchlabí, which are among the oldest folk buildings in the Giant Mountains. The exhibition in this museum has been closed for two years since 1 May 2025 due to renovation work.

Nature and trails

The Muzeum Krkonoš is the visitor centre of Krkonoše National Park and offers a modern interactive exhibition about the nature of the mountains and the lives of people in the mountains. At the visitor centre, it also provides information about the national park and about excursions to the sights and natural beauties of the Giant Mountains.

The Naučná stezka Vrchlabím educational trail runs along the banks of the Elbe and passes two churches and two museums. It ends in a château park with rare trees and views of Vrchlabí Château. Another themed route is Stezka vody, accessible since 2023: at renovated ponds and pools, there are informative stations as well as the opportunity to observe living organisms above and below the water's surface.

Discover and observe

Ekocentrum Krtek has a lecture hall for around 80 people, a small laboratory for 16 students, a small gallery and a library. In this way, the facility combines different spaces for lectures, practical work, exhibitions and books.

Water and exercise

Aquacentrum Vrchlabí has a 25-metre-long swimming pool with four lanes. There is also a 32°C leisure pool with a current channel, massage loungers, bubble features, underwater jets, an indoor and outdoor whirlpool, and a steam sauna.
