The entire cadastral area of Soběraz lies within the Český ráj UNESCO Geopark, on its eastern edge.
Culture and History
The first written mention of Soběraz dates from 1362 and is found in the court register of the town of Jičín. A later example of religious architectural history is the Chapel of St Peter and Paul, built in 1717 by the Carthusians from Valdice.
In the western part of Soběraz stands rural house No. 35. It is an example of woodcarving and folk architecture from the late 18th century. Rural house No. 39 in Soběraz has been preserved as a protected cultural monument.
Other historic landmarks in the village include a statue of the Virgin Mary dating from 1870. The monument in Soběraz commemorates the Hussite past and those who fell in the First World War; it stands in front of the local cemetery. A monument in Soběraz was unveiled in 1922.
Nature and Trails
A blue-marked hiking trail runs through the cadastral area of Soběraz. In addition, the educational trail “In the Footsteps of the War of 1866 in the Hořice Region” includes Soběraz as one of the participating municipalities.
Location and Getting There
The fastest way to reach Soběraz is via a turn-off from the Jičín–Lomnice nad Popelkou road between Valdice and Železnice.
