Milovice U Hořic: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Near the centre of Milovice u Hořic lies the Church of St Peter and Paul complex. It includes a cemetery and an octagonal mortuary chapel built into the surrounding wall.

Culture

The Church of St Peter and Paul was originally a Gothic building and preserves Gothic elements from the second half of the 14th century. By 1972 at the latest, it was listed as a cultural monument.

The village landscape also includes the Panská hospoda building, which served as a post station on the Saxon–Moravian postal route from 1754 to 1788 and was connected with an inn and a butcher’s shop; today, it is privately owned. A statue of St John of Nepomuk stands in front of the cemetery. Its pedestal bears an inscription from 1812, and the statue was restored in 2009. In the park in front of the local cemetery stands an Immaculata statue made of Hořice sandstone; according to the inscription, it dates from 1899. Next to the cemetery, on the side of the path lined with a lime-tree avenue, stands a statue of St Francis of Paola. It includes a relief of St Wenceslas and St Ludmila, and its inscription dates it to 1799. At an intersection near the cemetery, there is also a Cyril and Methodius Cross from 1854, which was restored in 1888, 2001 and 2009.

History

In the Middle Ages, the Church of St Peter and the rectory in Milovice formed an administrative centre of importance to the surrounding parish villages. The medieval church, rectory and school developed along an important country road that connected the south-western lands with Poland via Prague and Hradec.

Leisure

The area around the Milovice autocamp has a network of marked hiking and cycling trails. The Milovice u Hořic outdoor swimming pool has a treated-water swimming pool with a slide and diving board, as well as a children’s paddling pool with a slide.

From June to September, seasonal bicycle buses run through Milovice in the Podkrkonoší region along a route between Hradec Králové and Vrchlabí.

The Milovice u Hořic autocamp and outdoor swimming pool offer cabins, bungalows and four mobile homes for four people each, with covered terraces.
