Miletin: Holiday apartments and houses

In Miletín, the Na Parkáni park is home to the 5.5-metre-high bronze sculpture Epopej Miletína. It is an artistic interpretation of the first written mention of Miletín and represents four symbolic milestones in the history of Miletín.

Culture and history

The Miletínská věž was originally the eastern main gate of a monastery and was raised to three storeys in 1586. It is inaccessible to the public; only on event days, such as during a fair or pilgrimage, does it form part of a tour of all the city's sights.

The Klášterní sklepení is the only surviving remnant of a ruined fortress and an abandoned monastery of the Teutonic Order. It consists of two halls carved into the rock, separated from each other by stone Gothic portals. There are also brick-built, vaulted stairways and a narrow corridor leading towards a well.

The Muzeum českého amatérského divadla displays a collection of painted stage curtains. Visitors can step onto the stage and try out a theatre's basic technical equipment. The museum also documents the development of Czech amateur theatre, from the fundamental sources of folk theatre and the National Revival through the heyday of amateur theatre around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to amateur theatre today.

On the educational trail

The Naučná stezka K. J. Erbena is designed as an entertaining and educational trail for adults and children and has nine checkpoints. It offers beautiful views of Podzvičinsko; Miletínské lázně are also one of the trail's stops.

The Church of the Annunciation is visited by tourists and other visitors to Miletín during walks on the Naučná stezka K. J. Erbena. Free tours of the church can be arranged by prior agreement.

Local tradition

Following restitution in 1991, Karel Erben resumed production of Miletínské modlitbičky according to the original recipe and continues to do so to this day.
