Horní Kalná: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Horní Kalná–Kalenský Horizon geological site can be accessed without restrictions; by car, it is possible to get to within 250 metres.

Nature and Trails

In good visibility, Sněžka can be seen on the horizon from the “Houpačka u kříže mezi lány” swing. This swing, which is part of the “Houpačky z hor” project, is located in Horní Kalná. The trail over the ridge near Příčnice offers views of the panorama of the Krkonoše Mountains.

The Horní Kalná Viewpoint Trail runs for 3 km from the Příčnice settlement to the forest near Na Lánech; it can also be reached from Kunčice nad Labem.

Culture and Monuments

Numerous religious monuments have been preserved in Horní Kalná, including chapels, wayside shrines, stone crosses, statues of saints, bell towers and a monument to the victims of the First World War. One wayside shrine houses a glazed statue of the Pietà; it was erected in 1879 at the expense of Jan and Anna Kodym.

On the road to the summit, a statue of Our Lady of the Rosary stands by house number 112. The Prášivka trail descends to Horní Kalná, where several small monuments can be found in the village. Next to the school stands a cross dating from 1819 with faded depictions of saints. At the U Třech svatých site stands a statue of Saint Joseph with the infant Jesus.

Village Life and Cycle Route

In the lower part of Horní Kalná, there is a freely accessible grass field and a paved area; in winter conditions, the paved area can be used as an ice-skating rink. Every year, Horní Kalná hosts the “Bronzová kopačka Horní Kalné” nohejbal tournament for a travelling trophy.

The 22 km circular cycling route “Z Martinic do Branné a zase zpět” runs through Martinice v Krkonoších, Horní Branná, Dolní Branná and Horní Kalná.
