Hajnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hajnice lies on a plain open to the north, bounded to the south by the massif of Liščí vrch. Kamenný vrch forms part of this southern boundary and reaches an elevation of 609 metres.

History and Architectural Heritage

The history of the settlement goes back a long way: Hajnice was first mentioned in writing in 1260 as a small town. Since the early Middle Ages, a so-called Salt Route led through Hajnice from the Bohemian interior to what is now Poland.

A prominent historical landmark is the Church of Saint Nicholas. It was built between 1754 and 1782 on the site of a 13th-century church destroyed by fire. The municipality of Hajnice is also home to the Roman Catholic Church of Saint John the Baptist in Dolní Žďár, which is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. This church is considered a distinctive landmark and historic building in Hajnice.

The older building stock includes the belfry in Hajnice, which was built around the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. The surviving bell in Hajnice was cast in 1559. House No. 104 also reflects the history of the settlement: it is a former smithy. An exhibition gallery for the works of its owner was added to the former smithy.

Several log cabins dating from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved in the settlement of Mravenčí domky. In the village district of Kyje, the “Ranč Uncle Billa” complex was rebuilt; horse riding excursions were available there.

Hajnice is connected by road with Trutnov, Dvůr Králové nad Labem, Jaroměř, Úpice, Staré Buky and Kohoutov. For cyclists, Cycle Route 11a passes through Hajnice.
