Žďár Nad Orlicí: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Žďár nad Orlicí is located in the floodplain landscape of the Tichá Orlice and Divoká Orlice rivers. The village is home to the protected Orlice Nature Park, which was designated in 1996 along the Divoká Orlice and Tichá Orlice rivers and at their confluence into the Orlice.
Nature and River Landscape
The Orlice Natural Monument also includes the cadastral area of Žďár nad Orlicí. It protects floodplain forests, wetlands, river reed beds, oxbow lakes, ponds and various types of meadows.
The Orlice Nature Park protects rare river and floodplain ecosystems as well as the distinctive landscape character of the Orlice catchment area. It is home to a diverse range of wildlife, particularly various bird communities and the Eurasian otter, and has been designated a Natura 2000 site of European importance.
History and Village Life
Žďár nad Orlicí was first mentioned in writing in 1342. The name is derived from the word „žďářit“, which refers to obtaining land by clearing and burning the forest.
The Mošnův Theatre Association currently regularly performs comedies at Hostinec Pod Kaštany. Žďár nad Orlicí also has a cross listed as a monument of local significance.
On 27 June 2026, the traditional Letní slavnost will be held at the TJ SOKOL sports field in Žďár nad Orlicí.
Rail, Cycling and Water
The single-track, electrified railway line 026 between Choceň and Týniště nad Orlicí passes through the municipality of Žďár nad Orlicí. A railway stop is located at the western end of Žďár nad Orlicí.
Cycle Route 4161 between Podlesí and Moravsko and Cycle Route 4163 between Borohrádek and Nová Ves pass through the municipality. In addition, the moderately challenging, 62 km-long cycling route „Přes soutok Tiché a Divoké Orlice k poutnímu místu Homole“ passes through Žďár nad Orlicí.
The Orlice waterways in the Žďár nad Orlicí area are frequently used for water sports. Outside the municipality, there are paved footpaths providing access to the surrounding landscape.
