Světlá is located between the Divoká Orlice and Tichá Orlice rivers, near their confluence. This location is also the reason why Světlá is the municipality’s district most at risk of flooding.

History
In the first written mention of Žďár, dating from 1342, Světlá is mentioned together with the estates of Horní Žďár and Chotiv. The settlement of Světlá is first mentioned in 1419. The name Světlá is explained by the fact that the settlement was founded on a small, light-coloured, unforested hill.
