Bukvice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Bukvice lies on the southern slope of the Velišský hřbet ridge. The landscape surrounding the village is characterised by fields, meadows, hills and forests.

Landscape and Views

From Bukvice (318 m above sea level) and Křelina (368 m above sea level), there are views of the Český ráj panorama with the Prachovské skály rock formations, as well as of the landscape that gradually transitions into the Polabská nížina lowland.

History and Culture

The first written mention of Bukvice appears in a royal charter issued by John of Luxembourg on 12 March 1327. The village is home to the Baroque Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1767. A Calvary group from 1740 stands in the village square, while a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1765 stands at the other end of the village.

As a private couple, Eva and Jiří Valter opened the “Na Špejcharu” gallery in their weekend house in 2004. The gallery operators make the attic available to other artists.

Routes and Activities

The tourist information centre in Bukvice offers quests organised by Mariánská zahrada, including “A Journey through the Forest Chapels of Mariánská zahrada”. A yellow-marked hiking trail runs along the HC1 field path. The field paths between Bukvice and Křelina are suitable for cycling, among other activities. The Bukvice–Křelina field-path project connects Bukvice with the cadastral area of Nadslav.
