Broumov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In the CHKO Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area, a diverse mixture of forests, meadows and pastures, meandering watercourses with riparian vegetation, scattered groves, wildlife, rare flora, numerous cultural monuments and a unique landscape character shape the scenery. Together with the terrain, these elements create suitable conditions for the development of hiking tourism. A relatively dense network of signposted hiking trails of varying difficulty also contributes to this, connecting the remarkable places of Broumovsko.

Culture and hiking

The Broumovsko Museum has six halls with a permanent exhibition. The Church of St Peter and Paul in Broumov received its tall square tower in 1477. At the south-eastern edge of the town stands the Cemetery Church of the Virgin Mary, considered the oldest surviving sacred building in the Czech Republic built entirely of wood, as well as one of the oldest structures of its kind in Central Europe. Its construction consists of sturdy oak beams joined together without a single nail.

The Old Town Hall of Broumov is a registered cultural monument and is one of the oldest town halls in Bohemian subject towns. The hiking route “Broumovské stěny I” starts there; it leads to the Zaječí rokle trail junction and continues from there along a yellow-marked hiking trail towards Kamenná brána and Koruna.

Monastery and garden

Broumov Monastery offers a tour route accessible year-round that is also suitable for children. The monastery garden is open to the public free of charge.

Brewery history

In the Olivětín district, the Brewery Museum offers organised visitor groups guided tours of the production areas, providing insights into the brewing of one of the oldest monastery beers. It also has a small permanent exhibition on the history of brewing.
