Bolehošť: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Lovecký zámeček hunting lodge is a prominent landmark of Bolehošť and stands on a hill above the village. It was built around 1700 by Jeroným Colloredo, owner of the Opočno estate. The building served as accommodation for hunters, who could rest, eat and occasionally spend the night there.

Culture

A lime-tree avenue begins at the Lovecký zámeček and extends southeast to the Klabák forest. The local history also reaches far back: Bolehošť and Bolehošťská Lhota are first mentioned in a surviving written record from 1394. The chateau in Bolehošťská Lhota was built around the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries.

In the centre stands the stone Zvonička belfry, built in 2004 to mark the 610th anniversary of the municipality’s first mention. It houses a historic bell cast in Hradec Králové by Martin Exner in 1644. The revived tradition of ringing the bell every Sunday at noon is maintained at the Zvonička in Bolehošť.

During a walk through Bolehošť, visitors can see the monument to the victims of the World War, a Christian cross and the former evangelical school.

Nature

Bolehošť is surrounded by extensive forests on three sides. The Chropotínský háj nature reserve is located nearby and protects a remnant of floodplain forest with species-rich vegetation.

Things to do

Several cycle paths run through Bolehošť. They connect the village with Třebechovice pod Orebem, Týniště nad Orlicí and Opočno. A tourist pavilion with a map is available in the small park in the centre.

Local specialities

Growing Bolehošťské zelí cabbage and processing it into sauerkraut have been centuries-old traditions in Bolehošť. Sauerkraut is sold year-round at the Zelárna in Bolehošť.

Transport connections

Bus services run from Bolehošť towards Týniště nad Orlicí and Opočno. Train services operate on the Týniště nad Orlicí–Náchod route.
