The Vlašimský Chateau Park covers 75 hectares and is one of the largest chateau parks in Central Europe. It is a protected monument and part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas.
Nature and Discoveries
The “Naučná stezka Vlašimským parkem” educational trail comprises 18 stops and provides information about the park’s cultural monuments and natural assets. The paraZOO presents animals from the Podblanicko region and uses the stories of the animals there to teach visitors about the relationship between humans and nature.
The Vlašim Observatory regularly holds public observing sessions with explanations every Friday from the beginning of May to the end of September. Outside the regular observing times, a visit to the Vlašim Observatory can be arranged by telephone.

Culture and History
The original Vlašim Castle was founded around 1300 on a promontory above the Blanice River, together with a market settlement, and is first documented in 1318 as being owned by Hynek of Vlašim.
The Mannerist addition to the tower of Vlašim Chateau offers views of the town, the chateau and the park. The “Tajemství sklepení” exhibition presents the history of the chateau’s underground, including the legend of the treasure of Jan Vostrovec of Kralovice.
The Vlašim Gate houses the Podblanická Gallery, featuring works by regional artists under the direction of painter Stanislav Příhoda; during the season, it is open to the public as part of the tour of the park or for individual visits.
