Velká Dobrá: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Velká Dobrá lies in a gently undulating landscape. The built-up area ranges from 395 m above sea level at the western edge to 430 m at the eastern edge. The local history includes the merger of Velká Dobrá and Malá Dobrá in 1935.

Culture

The Chapel of the Finding of the Holy Cross was built in 1765, demolished in 1816, converted to its present form, and consecrated in 1817. In this form, it is a simple, moderately designed chapel from the first half of the 19th century, with the floor plan of a single-nave church and a rectangular-ended chancel. Mass is celebrated there at 11:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month. The Statue of St. John of Nepomuk was restored in 1969–1970 and placed next to the chapel above the pond.

History

The Velká Dobrá Fortress was built towards the end of the 15th century and was later converted into a granary. The Velká Dobrá Tumulus Burial Ground is one of the few burial mounds in Central Bohemia to have survived on a larger scale. There were approximately 60 burial mounds on an inconspicuous eastern slope; most were destroyed in the fields, while some have survived in the forest. The southeastern access to the Velká Dobrá Tumulus Field is at N 50°06'58.30", E 14°04'17.10"; another navigation point is located at Mound No. 23, with a monument, at N 50°07'04.29", E 14°04'06.90".

Things to Do

The “Kožová hora – Malé Kyšice” cycle path runs through Velká Dobrá and connects the village with Pletený Újezd, Braškov, Kyšice, Horní Bezděkov, Unhošť, and Malé Kyšice. Along this cycle path, there are information boards as well as tables and benches for resting. The Velká Dobrá Sports Complex offers a sand-surfaced tennis court and a multi-purpose court for rent.
