Věšín: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Věšín lies in a valley in the southwestern Brdy region. In the center stands the Chapel of Saint Francis Seraphicus, which was built from 1898 to 1905 and consecrated in 1905. From the chapel, the summit of Třemšín (827 m) can be seen to the south and the summit of Praha (863 m) to the north; the latter is located in the immediate vicinity of Věšín.

Landscape and Nature

The mountain of Štěrbina lies in the immediate vicinity of Věšín. The mountains Nad Moráskem and Jordán are located in the surrounding area of Věšín.

The Getsemanka Nature Reserve lies in the wider regional surroundings of Věšín and is considered the largest nature reserve in the Brdy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Brdy). It protects species-rich open scree forests, old shady, damp beech forests, and connecting younger beech stands. From Teslíny, a green-marked trail leads to a yellow-marked route running through the Getsemanka I and Getsemanka II nature reserves.

Trails and Experiences

Teslíny is one of the starting points for the 13-kilometer-long, easy educational hiking trail Naučná stezka Okolím Padrťských rybníků. The Padrťské rybníky ponds are freely accessible to pedestrians and cyclists from Teslíny via green- and red-marked hiking trails.

The route passes the Chapel of Věšín and the municipal office on the village square, then continues along an unmarked, easily passable field path toward the Obžera pond and the Skalice (Vlčava) River.

Culture and History

The Teslínský klášter is the ruin of a Benedictine provostry founded around 1353, a branch of the Ostrovský Monastery, and can be reached from Teslíny via green- and red-marked hiking trails.

The KOVO Věšín production cooperative was founded on July 24, 1892, by 39 nail smiths at the U Šenkýřů inn in Věšín.

The wider regional surroundings of Věšín include the Zřícenina Valdek ruins, the historical site “Lety u Písku. Památník holokaustu Romů a Sintů v Čechách,” the Church of Svatý Martin, and the Church of Svatá Anna.
