Lány U Rakovníka: Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Baroque Lány Chateau has served as the temporary and summer official residence of the Presidents of the Czech Republic since 1921.

Culture

The Lány Chateau offers guided tours of the representative first floor every day except Fridays. The commentary focuses on the first Czechoslovak president, T. G. Masaryk. Since 2003, the T. G. Masaryk Museum has also been located in a Baroque Fürstenberg granary that was transformed through careful architectural renovation. The museum includes a research room, a lecture hall, and a small café.

The Czech Hockey Hall displays a permanent exhibition about legends of Czech and Czechoslovak ice hockey, as well as ice hockey trophies. A panel exhibition is dedicated to T. G. Masaryk's court architect, Jože Plečnik. Through his extraordinary architectural interventions, Plečnik remains closely connected with the chateau park in Lány. The Museum of Sports Vehicles opened in 1997.

Nature

The Lány Chateau Park is open to the public from Easter until the end of October. In the Lánská obora questing rally, the doe Eliška accompanies children along the path of wood, from the seed and the fully grown tree to the wooden product. The rally begins by searching for and scanning the first QR code with a mobile phone.

The demonstration area of the Lánská obora educational trail features a wooden lookout point overlooking a game enclosure for large deer.

Getting There

From Prague, Lány can be reached via the R6 expressway toward Karlovy Vary. After taking the exit toward Lány, Road 236 continues for approximately 4 km to Lány. By train, travel to Stochov railway station and then walk approximately 2 km to Lány.
