Korkyne: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Korkyně combines a local history dating back to 1316 with extensive woodland, a revitalized pond, and traces of historical gold mining.

Nature

The largest woodland complex in the municipality of Korkyně, Okrouhlík, stretches southwest toward the Pánkov district. Korkyňský Pond is located directly in Korkyně. It was fully revitalized in 2022, equipped with benches, and fitted with an information board.

Since 2006, an undermined area containing gold-bearing ore has been located in the Korkyně area. It is marked by spoil heaps and depressions and lies in woodland on the edge of the Okrouhlík forest, northwest of the Pánkov district.

History

The earliest written mention of Korkyně dates back to 1316. A local legend entitled “Pověst o Korkyni” was recorded by Bartoloměj Paprocký in 1602.

The remains of Korkyně Fortress were converted into a granary. The chapel of Korkyně Fortress was abolished in 1790 and converted into a residential building. The chapel in Korkyně was renovated in 2012.

The Okrouhlík gold mine near Korkyně produced gold from remnants of ore veins and was leased out several times in the second half of the 16th century.

Things to Do

A marked tourist route runs through the Korkyně area. Stáj Rybana offers horse riding in Korkyně. In November, Hubertova jízda is scheduled to take place in Korkyně as a show-jumping event.

Geographical Location

Korkyně lies in the area of the central Vltava Valley, in the Slapy recreational region, and near the town of Nový Knín. Korkyně has three bus stops served by Prague Integrated Transport (PID): U Kapličky at the intersection of roads 10216 and 102, in Křížov, and in Korkyně.
