Kadlín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Above Kadlín, the Hradišť lookout tower stands on a hill. Its covered viewing platform is located 15 metres above the ground. From there, you can see Bezděz, Ralsko, Ještěd, the Jizera Mountains, the Krkonoše Mountains, Milešovka in the České středohoří, Říp, and nearby Vrátenská hora with a lookout tower in the Polomené Mountains.

Nature and Trails

The Hradišť educational trail provides information about plants and passes mixtures of old Bohemian meadows sown along the route. Benches with information panels also provide information about mammals, insects and birds of the regional landscape.

From Kadlín, wooden signposts marked “Hradišť” point to the lookout tower. From there, a paved path less than half a kilometre long leads to it.

Culture and History

The Church of St James the Greater in Kadlín was already mentioned as a parish church in 1384. It was originally Gothic and was rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1724. The protected church complex includes the bell tower, the mortuary chapel, the enclosing wall and the plots of the enclosed area.

Crafts and Rural Life

The rural blacksmith exhibition shows the home and workshop of a village blacksmith, with hammers, tongs and a forge, as well as products made using these tools. The exhibition of old agricultural technology presents, among other things, ploughs, seed drills and threshing machines.

A separate exhibition of hoes features a hoe found on Hradišť, a historical museum piece, hoes made in the forge and a hoe from the 21st century. In the exhibition of the region’s crops, visitors can hold rye, wheat and barley, rub them between their fingers and smell them, as well as learn about 15 different decimal scales.
