The first written mention of Drahelčice dates back to 1115.

History

Drahelčice was once home to a fortress that was destroyed during the Hussite Wars. It was probably located on the site of today’s former imperial estate.

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk was built at the expense of the municipality of Drahelčice and consecrated to this saint on 29 June 1884. Another historical feature is the Kladensko-Nučice Railway, which was intended for freight transport from the very beginning.

Memorial Sites

The memorial in Drahelčice was erected in 1926 by the local residents, using their own funds and labor, in memory of those who fell in the First World War. Every year, the Obec Baráčníků organizes a lantern procession there to mark the anniversary of the founding of independent Czechoslovakia.

The Drahelčice memorial lime tree is estimated to be approximately 230 years old. It stands on an artificially raised hill at a crossroads.

Nature and Trails

Drahelčice borders the Povodí Kačáku Nature Park to the west. Numerous paths dating back to the 17th century have been preserved in the village’s cadastral area.
