For the Donji Karin plaža bathing beach, excellent final bathing water quality was determined for the assessment period from 2021 to 2024. For bathing water monitoring in 2025, the beach bears the identification number 4073.

Nature
The Karišnica in Donji Karin is part of the significant landscape area of Karišnica and Bijela, which has been protected since 2009. Its catchment area near Donji Karin covers 58 km² and consists mainly of steep karst slopes.
The Natura 2000 site HR2001316 Karišnica and Bijela lies between Gornji Karin and Donji Karin. It includes the wider area of the Karišnica, its mouth at Karin beach, the gorge and the Bijela stream, the Tuvina coastal wetland belt, and Brežine Hill. The site also includes wetlands as well as coastal and hilly landscapes, the waterfalls of the Bijela, and underground habitats at the springs of the Karišnica and Bijela.
Culture
The Franciscan monastery and the Church of the Immaculate Holy Mary are in operation and can be visited; there are also information boards and signposts.
A stone interlaced cross is set into the wall of the cloister of the Franciscan church. Franciscans have been active in the area since the 15th century; the monastery formerly housed schools, and it has a small, valuable library.
The Franciscan monastery in Donji Karin was built in the late Middle Ages on the foundations of a Benedictine monastery dating from the 9th century.
The archaeological zone of Gradina Miodrag is a protected cultural asset and includes remains of ancient Corinium as well as medieval Karin. The Miodrag archaeological site is considered an important archaeological location that dominates the surrounding landscape.
Remains of medieval towers from the 13th and 14th centuries are visible in the terrain in Donji Karin.
The remains of the Church of Saint Mark (Nicholas) are registered as protected immovable cultural property under identification number Z-2626. They are located on county road Ž 6048 between Donji Karin and Popovići; the remains are overgrown and difficult to discern.
Geographical Location
Old stone mills with their canal systems line the riverbed of the Karišnica. A well-maintained gravel road also runs along the Karišnica.
