Experiences
The new location of the Višnjan Observatory is situated on Tičan Hill, three kilometres north of Višnjan. Around the summer solstice, Astrofest is held at the Tičan Observatory complex, featuring stargazing and ceremonial bonfires.
Sovina staza is a 7.7-kilometre marked hiking trail that begins in the pine grove near the cemetery in Višnjan. It leads through the villages of Deklevi and Kočići to Tičan and then back towards Višnjan. Between Višnjan and Tičan, it runs through the forest and along unpaved paths.
The Venetian Lion hiking trail leads through historic Višnjan and the old village of Barat. Its starting point is Antun Korlević Square in Višnjan. The route is 4.5 kilometres long and takes approximately two and a half hours.
The Trail of Stars is an official 9.5-kilometre cycling route between Višnjan and Tičan. It is considered easy and suitable for younger and less experienced cyclists. After Tičan, the route passes through shady Istrian forests and by the lavender fields near Deklevi.
Culture and History
Part of the historic settlement of Zoričići is proposed for registration as a cultural asset and for protection at county level.
In Višnjan, the Church of Saint Anthony the Abbot dates from the 13th to the 15th century and stands at the entrance to the old town. In Šaline, the Church of Saint Roch dates from the 16th century; in 1929, it was moved there. The municipal loggia of Višnjan dates from the 17th century and was reconstructed in 1753.
Landscape
Along the road through Dubrava Forest, old bauxite mining sites remain visible as deep pits.
