Tinjan: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Tinjan preserves a blacksmithing tradition centered around the kosir tool. The traditional Šimunja exhibition displays kosiri and other forged products made by blacksmiths from all over Istria.

Culture and History

The parish church of Tinjan has a free-standing bell tower built in 1762. Next to the church, in the historic town center, the local heritage collection Enriko Depiera is housed in the 1552 Kažamara building.

At ISAP, visitors can compare Istrian prosciutto with products from other Croatian regions and other countries. Since 2007, the Municipality of Tinjan and the Association of Istrian Ham Producers have organized the International Ham Fair every October.

At Hiža Istarskog Pršuta in Tinjan 5, visitors can taste prosciutto, cheese, ombolo, sausages, kosnice, and pancetta from local producers and family businesses. The adjoining shop offers cured meat products, honey, olive oil, truffles, hemp oil, cheese, and wine to take home.

Trails

Od lokve do lokve (615) is an easy, 26-kilometer-long cycling route that starts and ends in Tinjan. The route connects Tinjan’s restored old ponds and offers a rest stop for cyclists at each pond. Staza suhozida is a moderately difficult trail connecting Kringa and Tinjan.

Surroundings

The area surrounding Tinjan includes Dvigrad Castle, Veliki Breg, Gruja Vrh, Trba, Sveti Ivan, Church of St. Mary on Škriljinah, and Standar. The wider regional area around Tinjan is home to Soardo-Bembo Palace.
