Kloštar features the traditional architectural characteristics of western Istria. A large village pond and several rural building complexes have also been preserved.

Culture and History
Kloštar is associated with the remains of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Michael above Lim, which was founded in the early 11th century. The surviving complex includes parts of the cloister, two churches, Romanesque frescoes and a cistern. According to local tradition, the foundation of the abbey is connected with Saint Romuald.
Nature
Kontija Forest covers 65 hectares between Kloštar, Gradina and Flengi. It has designated hiking and cycling trails; Kontija is also home to a stand of white hornbeam trees that is more than 140 years old.
The Mukaba hillfort preserves visible dry-stone fortifications.
Fratarske škale is a 530-metre-long footpath from the abbey area to the sea at Lim; the elevation difference is 115 metres.
Cycling
The family cycling route Na pustinjakovoj stazi passes through Kloštar and includes the Abbey of St. Michael. It is 9.5 kilometres long and has an elevation difference of 149 metres. Of this, 7.5 kilometres run along gravel paths and 2 kilometres along asphalt.

Kloštar lies on the county road to Vrsar. At Pilj, this road branches off from the D21 state road between Pula and Trieste.
