Čehići: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The San Lorenzo II (719) hiking trail reaches Čehići after following the local paved Čehići–Jurcani road. After Čehići, the route crosses a motorway overpass and continues along forest and field paths. The trail is considered easy, is 9.9 kilometres long, takes an estimated two hours, and has 145 metres of ascent.

Nature and Trails

The Sveti Lovreč area is a limestone-dominated landscape with red Terra Rossa soils, known as “Crvena Istra”. Another trail is Put vode (720): the 11.2-kilometre circular hiking trail connects water sources in the municipality of Sveti Lovreč and begins in the centre of Sveti Lovreč.

Culture and Events

In the immediate vicinity, Sveti Lovreč is one of the best-preserved medieval fortified towns in Istria. The settlement retains its prehistoric circular shape and visible fortifications from the Venetian period. The Basilica of Saint Martin contains remains of contemporary frescoes, described as some of the oldest in Istria. The Church of Saint Lawrence dates from the eighth century; its Romanesque bell tower was added in the eleventh century.

Trokutna kula i zidine are listed in Sveti Lovreč’s register of protected monuments and cultural heritage. Above the Lim, the remains of the Monastery of St. Michael include churches dedicated to Saint Mary and Saint Michael.

PhotoCity is an annual international photography competition in Sveti Lovreč for professionals and amateurs. Lovrečeva is Sveti Lovreč’s central annual festival and is celebrated on 10 August with a programme lasting several days and including cultural, musical and sporting events as well as activities for children. Sveti Lovreč also hosts the traditional event Smotra narodne glazbe i plesa featuring folk music and dance. Traditional songs, instruments and dances are presented, including the Istrian Balun and the Polka. Žive jaslice began in Sveti Lovreč in 2010.

Products and Production

OPG Vošten produces extra virgin olive oil from hand-picked olives using cold pressing. The family business welcomes visitors; the OPG Vošten agritourism estate in Sveti Lovreč also has an olive oil tasting room. Old School Distillery produces spirits and liqueurs in a former school building.
