The marked educational Šumarica hiking trail begins at the forestry lodge of Šumarija Velika Gorica near Krušak and ends in the village of Kozjača at the Chapel of Saint Michael the Archangel. A woodruff blossom symbol marks the trail; nine stations provide information about the local flora, fauna and cultural significance.
Nature
The hiking trail is not a circular route, takes 2 to 2.5 hours in one direction and is marked in both directions. It runs through wooded slopes and ravines, along the Curek stream and across the Kozara stream, as well as past meadows and vineyards near Kozjača. Along the way, it reaches the Lakovica viewpoint near Kozjača and runs within an area designated as an Important Plant Area of botanical significance in Croatia.
Other routes also explore the landscape around Kozjača: The 17.1-kilometre Podgutnica Trail passes the Šumarica educational hiking trail and, before returning to Ključić Brdo, continues to the Lakovica summit near Kozjača. The 25.2-kilometre Banderijalac Trail passes several hamlets and two water springs and provides rear access to the Lakovica summit.

Culture
In Kozjača, Miholje is also the celebration of Kozjača Municipality Day. The programme for the Miholje festival marking Municipality Day in Kozjača began in 2020 with a Mass for the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel.
Local traditions include salenjaci, a traditional pastry made from dough with lard, usually filled with fruit jam; in Kozjača, the Kozjača Women's Association organises a competition for preparing it on Saint Michael's Day.
Connections
Krušak and Kozjača are connected to Velika Gorica by a regular bus service. At the end of the Šumarica hiking trail in Kozjača, Caffe Bar Pevec offers a place to stop for refreshments.
