In German, the German Monastery of St John of Rila stands on a wooded slope of Lozen Mountain, 5 km from German along a paved road. The present-day church dates from 1885 and preserves a well-preserved 19th-century iconostasis with icons by the Samokov painter Ivan Dospevski and other artists. A trip to German may also be connected with the desire to rent a holiday apartment there.
