Discover Bucheon: Manhwa, Archery Tradition and Nature
Accommodation in Bucheon
Bucheon offers a variety of experiences: Korean comics and archery tradition, an artificial lake with a walking path, plant displays and seasonal festival themes. These topics can help shape different aspects of your trip planning. Consider whether culture and history, nature, science or a seasonal programme is of particular interest to you.
Comics and Korean archery tradition
At the Korea Manhwa Museum, interactive and exhibition areas bring together a digital 4D/3D cinema and a reading room for comics. Through works and artist portraits, visitors can learn about the history and present-day world of Korean comics. The museum also offers the opportunity to explore and experience 110 years of manhwa history. This gives attention both to individual works and artists and to the development of the comic tradition.
The Bucheon Bow Museum is dedicated to traditional Korean bows, the tradition of making them and Korean archery. Its collection includes 240 items left by Kim Jang-hwan, a master recognised by the state, as well as around 500 materials relating to bows, arrows, archery equipment and records. These materials span a historical period from antiquity to the present day. In contrast to the Manhwa Museum, the focus here is on material heritage and archery tradition, while the Manhwa Museum centres on comics and artist portraits.
Seasonal themes and events
Bucheon Festa is the city's integrated festival and events programme. Its seasonal themes include spring blossoms and family, summer adventures, autumn harmony and winter romance. Bucheon Festa–Spring features various programmes every year from March to May, open to all residents. Individual events and themes may change. If you want to plan your travel dates around a particular programme, check its dates for the relevant year in advance.
Walking path, plants and poetry
At Sangdong Lake Park, a 2.5-kilometre walking path circles an artificial lake. The park is also home to Supia greenhouse, which displays 430 plant species and 2,800 plants; the figures may change with future displays. The park thus combines a waterside path with a plant exhibition. These two features may influence your choice if you would like to combine time outdoors with a visit to the greenhouse.
Another form of culture can be found at Bucheon Park, also known as “Poetry Monument Park”. There are monuments inscribed with poems. Poetry thus becomes a visible theme in its own right, adding a distinct note alongside the city's collections and exhibitions on comics, bows and science.
Science and technology
Bucheon Astronomical Science Center includes an exhibition room, an education room, a retractable-roof dome and an outdoor area for night-time observations. Its facilities combine introductions to astronomical topics with an area for observations. This gives the centre a different focus from the city's cultural and historical collections.
At Bucheon Water Museum, videos and exhibits provide a hands-on way to explore how water forms and circulates, the history of its use and the production of tap water. Bucheon Robopark complements this look at science and technology with an educational and interactive space featuring various robot programmes, learning activities and events. Its focus is youth education. Water processes and robotics thus offer different themes to consider when planning your trip.
Find the right holiday rental in Bucheon
When choosing a holiday rental in Bucheon, your preferred type of trip can be a practical guide: a culture-focused itinerary calls for different priorities than a stay centred on walking paths, plants or science. Consider which of these interests you want your trip to revolve around, and base your search on how the accommodation is located in relation to your plans. If a seasonal programme is a deciding factor, also take the relevant dates and changing event themes into account when planning.
