Jaguariúna offers several ways to explore its history and traditions: a Maria-Fumaça ride along sections of a former railway line, exhibitions on Caipira culture, and opportunities for water sports. This lets you decide whether you would like your stay to focus on railways and rural scenery, local culture, or activities on the water.

Experience the Railway and Its History

Train rides from the Centro Cultural at Jaguariúna railway station to Anhumas station are available. The route passes through Tanquinho and Carlos Gomes and follows preserved sections of the former Companhia Mogiana de Estradas de Ferro railway line. Along the way, the Maria-Fumaça train passes historic coffee farms, bridges, and rural landscapes. Both railway history and the scenery along the route are part of the experience. On the ABPF booking page, you can select Jaguariúna as your departure station and buy tickets online.

The current railway station building was inaugurated in 1945. Condephaat confirmed its listing as a heritage site. Since the 1990s, the former station building has served as a cultural center and a stop for the Maria Fumaça. History, cultural use, and train rides come together here in one building. Estação de Guedes was also inaugurated in 1945 and was restored in 2012.

Caipira Traditions and City History

The Centro de Cultura Caipira de Jaguariúna houses a permanent exhibition on the customs and traditions of Caipira culture. Topics covered include language, traditional cuisine, music, and folklore. The exhibition offers several perspectives on this culture, from everyday communication and food to musical and folkloric forms of expression. A dedicated space is set aside for artistic performances and rehearsals by the Orquestra de Violeiros do Jaguary ensemble.

Another way to explore Jaguariúna’s history is the Casa da Memória Padre Gomes. It preserves and presents this history through written, photographic, film, and audio collections. These different media offer varied ways to engage with the material, with texts and photographs alongside film and audio. If you would like to include cultural topics in your travel plans, you can choose between the Caipira exhibition and the historical collection at Casa da Memória.

Weekend Market and Water Sports

The Feira de Arte e Artesanato de Jaguariúna, or FEART for short, is considered a tourist attraction in the city. It takes place every weekend in the parking lot of the Centro Cultural. Its regular weekend schedule makes it a recurring activity that differs from the exhibitions and train ride: here, art and handicrafts are the focus.

Naga Cable Park offers wakeboarding, wakeskating, kneeboarding, and water skiing. Adults and children aged eight and over are admitted. If you are traveling with children, this age requirement is a practical consideration when planning activities to enjoy together. The four sports listed also offer different ways to include water sports in your stay. The operator describes Naga Cable Park as Latin America’s first water sports park.

When choosing a vacation rental in Jaguariúna, you can first decide what you would like your stay to focus on: railway history and scenery, Caipira traditions, handicrafts, or water sports. If you would like to expand your search to other places, also consider Guedes.
