Cashmere combines vivid history, river experiences and culinary discoveries. Those planning a trip with varied interests will find several themes here that can be combined into a diverse stay: historic buildings and exhibits, trails along the water, seasonal rafting, regional confections and special events. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore consider whether culture, activity, culinary enjoyment or a festival should be the focus of your trip.

History to See and Experience

A distinctive part of the townscape is the Cottage Avenue Historic District. The residential district covers four blocks; at the same time, tree-lined areas and a high concentration of one- and one-and-a-half-story Craftsman bungalows shape its character. Those interested in architecture and local history can discover a different side of Cashmere here than through a single museum.

The Cashmere Museum offers insights across two levels, with more than 13,000 square feet of exhibit space. On display are Native American artifacts, natural history exhibits and pioneer items. Pioneer Village includes furnished, authentic local cabins, a waterwheel, several Great Northern Railway buildings and well-maintained picnic grounds. This provides exhibition rooms as well as historic buildings and outdoor areas for a range of interests.

The Pioneer Village Festival expands this experience into a lively event. It takes place on the first Saturday in October and features food, live music, entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, and live demonstrations of traditional skills. Visitors can explore the village buildings, drink sarsaparilla at the saloon and pan for gold. For families looking to combine shared activities with cultural discoveries, this event is a special reason to travel.

River, Trails and Active Days

Mission Creek flows through Cashmere before joining the Wenatchee River. Along the Wenatchee River, the paved trail in Riverside Park is used for walking and cycling. This is one way to add outdoor activity to your stay without making the focus entirely on more demanding pursuits.

Those looking for a more athletic undertaking will find Class III/IV conditions on the Wenatchee River during the rafting season in spring and early summer. Cashmere Riverfront Park also has a boat ramp that is frequently used by the majority of commercial rafting groups as a take-out point. For trip planning, the seasonal nature of rafting is therefore especially important.

There are also opportunities to explore Cashmere actively beyond the river area. The Devil’s Gulch mountain biking area is located nearby and can be reached via Mission Creek Road. Access to the Red Devil Trail leads south from Cashmere via Mission Creek Road to the end of the paved road surface. This allows you to consider different priorities when choosing your accommodation: a stay focused on local history and culinary enjoyment, or a trip where cycling and hiking destinations take center stage.

Confections and Events in Town

Liberty Orchards has been making confections in Cashmere since 1918 and is the maker of Aplets & Cotlets. In the downtown area, the company offers free factory tours. The Cashmere Food Trail is a self-guided culinary tour through Cashmere and complements the visit with another way to get to know the town through its food culture.

The Cashmere Founders' Days offer additional impressions. The program includes a large parade, a helicopter candy drop and a car show. Live music, food and family activities take place throughout the historic downtown area. When you choose accommodation for a specific travel period, such events can significantly shape the character of your stay.
