Discover Cache: Nature, Culture, and Regional Experiences
Accommodation in Cache
Cache combines nature experiences, vibrant culture, and regional culinary delights into a trip with many different facets. You can choose between mountain lakes and hiking trails, museums and theaters, seasonal events, and culinary discoveries. This makes it easy to align your search for a vacation rental with your own travel plans: active days in nature call for a different focus than a stay centered on culture and dining.
Nature Among Lakes, Rivers, and Mountain Trails
At the Tony Grove Day Use Area, you can access Tony Grove Lake and trails leading into the backcountry. The roads and parking areas there are paved. The lake offers opportunities for fishing and canoeing. If you would like to plan a longer hike, the White Pine Lake Trail is an approximately 8-mile loop through mountain terrain to a high-elevation lake. The Wind Caves Trail, by contrast, is a 2-mile loop to natural rock formations above the canyon floor.
For an easier outing, the Riverside Nature Trail along the Logan River is available. The trail is an easy, family-friendly walking route. Along the Logan River, there are also numerous access points for anglers along Highway 89. At Hardware WMA, anglers with a valid license can catch several trout species in nearly 15 miles of streams and rivers. Access is via State Route 101, also known as Blacksmith Fork Canyon Road, a paved state highway that is regularly cleared in winter.
Wildlife and seasonal experiences are also part of what Hardware WMA offers. The Wildlife Education Center features exhibits and educational programs for all age groups. On open days, offerings include guided walks and craft projects. In winter, Haviland's Old West Adventures operates horse-drawn sleigh and wagon rides through the elk herd. These rides take place Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from December 5 through February 15, last approximately 45 minutes, and operate from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Culture, History, and Events
The Cache County Fair and Rodeo takes place during the first full week of August and attracts approximately 50,000 participants and spectators over the course of a week. In July, the Cache Valley Cruise-In adds a three-day car show at the County Fairgrounds to the events calendar. More than 800 vehicles are displayed there, and the event attracts thousands of visitors.
The American West Heritage Center combines live demonstrations with hands-on activities such as gold panning and axe throwing. Its seasonal events celebrate the region's agricultural heritage. For theater enthusiasts, Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre has staged performances at the Ellen Eccles Theatre on Main Street since 1993. The Lyric Repertory Company performs at the historic Caine Lyric Theatre and on the campus of Utah State University.
Several museums offer additional perspectives. The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art on the campus of Utah State University has a nationally recognized permanent collection with particular emphases on ceramics and Native American art. The Hyrum Museum covers the history of southern Cache Valley from prehistoric times through the mid-20th century. The Cache Museum in downtown Logan preserves and displays artifacts and photographs, as well as the history of Cache Valley's earliest settlers. The Utah State University Museum of Anthropology presents exhibits about the early inhabitants of the Great Basin and other regions of the world, including Polynesia.
Regional Cuisine and Choosing the Right Accommodation
The Cache Valley Foodie Trek is a self-guided culinary discovery tour through Logan and the surrounding valley. Participating businesses include family-run companies, farms, and artisan producers. You can select individual stops or plan a full-day tasting tour; some businesses offer tours or tastings. Bluebird Candy has been making hand-dipped chocolates since 1914. Visitors can watch the confectionery-making process there.
When searching for a vacation rental in Cache, it is therefore worthwhile to first determine your preferred travel focus. Nature is the main attraction for hiking, fishing, and Tony Grove Lake. Museums, theaters, and culinary stops are better suited to a plan focused on cultural and culinary experiences, especially around Logan.
