Waterfalls in Centennial Park, a loop trail at 100 Mile Marsh, and a nature trail alongside a creek showcase different sides of 100 Mile House. There are also opportunities for bird and wildlife watching, as well as a public art gallery. If you’re planning a stay, you can tailor your outings to your interests: spend some time outdoors, then discover art and theatrical productions.

Nature Trails with Different Highlights

A 1.5-kilometre loop trail runs around 100 Mile Marsh. The trail requires little mobility and offers opportunities to observe wildlife. Its length and loop layout provide a clear guide for planning your day; wildlife watching makes for a different focus than a walk through a park. If you’re particularly interested in animals, this gives you a specific nature experience to consider when planning your trip.

The Exeter Valley Accessible Nature Trail is located on the grounds of the South Cariboo Recreation Centre. It first follows a creek, then loops through an aspen grove. There is also a wetland near the trail, home to numerous bird species. This outing therefore focuses on a creek, woodland, and birdwatching. The wetland is described as being near the trail; it is not an additional section of the trail.

Centennial Park also has walking trails. Among its features are dramatic waterfalls, and the park is located just east of the town centre. Here, a walk and views of the waterfalls go hand in hand with an easy-to-find location in town. The park offers a different way to spend time outdoors than the loop around the marsh or the trail that loops alongside the creek and through the aspen grove.

Explore by E-Bike or on Foot

The South Cariboo Visitor Centre rents electric bikes for exploring 100 Mile House and the surrounding area. Rentals begin and end at the Visitor Centre, 155 Wrangler Way. This set start and end point is useful if you’d like to plan an e-bike outing during your stay. You can choose your excursions based on whether you’d prefer to explore one of the trails described on foot or make use of the opportunity to explore the town and surrounding area by electric bike.

Art and Performing Arts

The Parkside Art Gallery is open to the public. It is a nonprofit gallery run entirely by volunteers; the District of 100 Mile House provides the gallery space. If you’d like to include art in your stay as well as nature trails, you can add the gallery to your itinerary as a cultural destination in its own right.

The Cariboo Artists' Guild and the 100 Mile Performing Arts Society offer further cultural highlights: the Guild offers workshops, while the Society stages plays and musicals in the community. These are different ways to experience art—workshops on the one hand, performances on the other. Together with the gallery, they offer several specific cultural interests to consider when planning your stay.

When looking for a vacation rental, you can start by considering which of these experiences matter most for your trip: walking trails and nature watching, an e-bike outing, or art and performances. The activities described offer different ways to plan your stay, without requiring you to limit your trip to a single way of exploring.
