Överlida offers several distinctive aspects for a trip: lakes and bathing spots, car-free sections of a historic railway line, mountain biking opportunities and a unique local history. Depending on whether you are planning quiet days by the water, exercise on a bike or cultural discoveries, your stay can be arranged in different ways. When looking for suitable accommodation, it is also useful to decide first which experiences you would like to have.

Lakes, Bathing Spots and Fishing

Överlida FVO includes Stora Hallången, Lilla Hallången, Mjöasjön, Bredasjön and Stora Djupasjön. There are two bathing spots: Näset and Vita Sand. Näset on Stora Hallången is a sandy beach surrounded by forest. It has a bathing jetty, a diving tower, benches and a barbecue area. Anyone planning to include water and relaxation in their stay will therefore find various places to spend the day.

Fishing is also one of the activities available in Överlida FVO. Among other species, perch, pike, vendace and eel can be caught there. Vita Sand is easier to reach by boat. You should take this particular feature into account when planning if this beach is one of your desired destinations. For families with different interests, the choice between a bathing spot, a fishing trip and other activities can help shape the character of the trip without every day having to be the same.

Cycling Routes and Mountain Biking Experiences

The Pyttebanan combines history and activity in a special way. It was formerly a railway line between Limmared and Falkenberg and is now being restored as a cycling route; sections can be cycled. Large parts of the Pyttebanan are car-free. The section between Överlida and Holsljunga is 8 km long and passes the Gräne Gruva excursion destination.

For mountain biking, Överlida has a downhill track and a skills track. Both are maintained by volunteers and can be used free of charge. In addition, the Näsetrundan has been extended by 800 metres and equipped with lighting. When choosing your holiday apartment, it may therefore be helpful to focus on water, longer cycling tours or mountain biking activities.

Culture and History in Överlida

Överlida Church was built in 1962–63. It was designed by the architect Nils Halla, who came from the local area. The chancel contains an altarpiece carved by Eva Spångberg in 1993. Anyone interested in architecture and church art can include these details in their exploration of the village.

At the Överlida Hembygdsmuseum in Halla, the industrial development of the surrounding area can be traced through ÖIK’s 100-year history. The museum is located in an old weaving mill from the beginning of the 20th century and is run by the Överlida Hembygdsförening. This means that it is not only the collection that is central, but also the building itself as part of the region’s industrial history.

Kullaberg is also part of the local history. Kullaberg first opened its doors on Boxing Day 1937 and served as a meeting place for textile workers’ leisure events, including costume balls, dances and occasional film screenings. This historical perspective complements the nature and activity offerings with a look at the social life of former textile workers.

The Right Base for Your Trip

Those wishing to combine several interests can divide their excursions by theme and leave room for active days as well as a visit to the museum or an exploration of the history of Överlida Church and Kullaberg.
