Mölnlycke brings together nature experiences, waterside trails and cultural-historical sites within a compact area. Around the town, you will find opportunities for leisurely walks, longer circuits, bike rides and cultural discoveries. This makes trip planning flexible: one day can begin at a lake, another at a historic site or with an event at the cultural center.

Lakes, forests and trails around Mölnlycke

The Rådasjön nature reserve is located near Mölnlycke. It includes Lake Rådasjön, woodland along the shore, open grazing areas and deciduous forests characterized by oak trees. A marked 12-kilometer loop runs mostly along gravel nature trails through deciduous forest near the lake. Those looking for a longer route in a natural setting can deliberately include this trail in their day’s plans.

Another option is the route from Mölnlycke centrum to Råda Säteri, which can be reached via a fully lit walking and cycling path. Råda Säteri is located in the nature reserve and is a well-preserved cultural-historical site with origins in the 14th century. The manor buildings date from the 18th century. The formal garden includes terraces, apple orchards, seasonal and perennial plantings, flower cultivation and a kitchen garden. The kitchen garden also contains perennial medicinal plants that were historically used, among other purposes, to treat sleep problems, stomach aches and fever.

Active days at Finnsjön and in the center

At Finnsjön, there are illuminated running trails of 1 kilometer and 2.5 kilometers. Both trails have been adapted for people with disabilities. There is also a 6-kilometer route around Finnsjön with varied terrain. These different lengths make it easier to choose a suitable route for each day without limiting yourself to just one type of outing.

Mölnlycke centrum also offers opportunities for exercise and spending time outdoors. Massetjärnsparken is a recreational area around Massetjärn. Walking and cycling paths cross the park between the center and Mölnlycke Fabriker. A beach volleyball court and open grassy areas add options for ball games and spontaneous activities. Mölnlycke Fabriker was founded in 1849 by the Hennig-Wendel family and gives the town’s history a distinct industrial connection.

For cycling enthusiasts, the Vargkullen mountain bike park offers a pump track, a jump area, a drop area, several trail loops, and a balance and skills area. For your visit, it is recommended that you park at Råda kyrka on Kyrkvägen 41 and cycle from there to the facility. This allows you to plan the outing specifically as a cycling day.

Culture, events and historic sites

Mölnlycke kulturhus hosts concerts, family performances, author events, lectures, book circles and storytelling sessions. The building also features artistic designs made from stone mosaics and ceramic symbols, as well as art exhibitions on several floors. For travelers with different interests, the cultural center can therefore complement outdoor activities.

Råda kyrka is a small red wooden church built in 1712 and located in Mölnlycke. It has largely retained its character as an 18th-century wooden church. Those planning a visit should take the opening hours into account: on weekdays, the church is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; on weekends, it is open in connection with services. On the Labbera peninsula, there are also remains of a ruin believed to date from the middle of the 19th century.

Which location suits your travel plans?

When looking for a holiday apartment in Mölnlycke, you can first decide on your preferred travel rhythm. If nature and longer trails are the focus, Rådasjön, the nature reserve and Finnsjön offer specific destinations for planning your days. For a mix of local life, a walk and culture, paths run through Massetjärnsparken between the center and Mölnlycke Fabriker, while Mölnlycke kulturhus offers a different type of outing.

You can also organize your journey to the nature destinations in different ways. The Rådasjön nature reserve can be reached via the Mölnlycketerminalen or Råda Säteri bus stops, as well as via parking facilities at Råda Säteri or the parking garage in Mölnlycke centrum. At Råda Säteri, Tesällskapet offers bookable afternoon tea and tea tastings. During the summer season, Trädgårdscaféet uses fresh ingredients from the kitchen garden at Råda Säteri. This allows you to combine active, cultural and culinary activities without limiting your trip to just one type of experience.
