Storuman combines marked trails, waterways, local culture and sporting experiences with a landscape that can be explored in a variety of ways. When planning your trip, you can choose between short walks, longer historic trails, excursions to the water and cultural visits. There are also various ways to get there: Storuman can be reached by car, bus and plane; in summer, it is also possible to travel by the Inlandsbanan railway.

Walking Trails with Views and Clear Signposting

Hälsans stig is suitable for visitors looking for a clearly signposted route. Every kilometre is marked with a kilometre sign, and there are five benches along the trail. The surface is suitable for walking frames, pushchairs and wheelchairs. This makes it easy to include the trail in your daily plans when you are looking for a clearly laid-out route with opportunities to sit down.

Utsikten offers a different experience, as the highest point in Storuman’s built-up area. There you will find a wooden observation tower, benches and a barbecue area. There are parking bays along the road to Utsikten, and ample parking is available at the top. Anyone wishing to combine panoramic views with time outdoors can plan Utsikten as a destination in its own right.

Water, Trails and Historical Traces

At Badsjön, there is a bathing area with a diving tower and an approximately 1-kilometre trail around the lake. You can also play disc golf around Badsjön. The course is suitable both for beginners and for more demanding play. The lake therefore offers several options for an active or varied day during your holiday, without having to commit to just one activity.

Kyrkstigen begins approximately 1 kilometre north of Storuman on the E45. The historic church trail is 6 kilometres long and was formerly used to fulfil the compulsory church attendance requirement. For hikers interested in cultural history, this trail offers an opportunity to combine the landscape with the region’s past. Forsviksberget is also located in the area around Storuman, with a steep, well-trodden ridge trail. Sturdy footwear is recommended for this trail.

Culture and Regional Specialities

The local museum in Luspholmarna houses old artefacts and an old bakery that is still in use. The museum can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by canoe. The Luspholmarna heritage site also has a bakery hut. In summer, genuine northern Swedish flatbread is baked and sold there in a wood-fired oven. The waters around the heritage site offer opportunities for swimming.

Active Days and the Right Location for Your Accommodation

Two illuminated cross-country ski trails, measuring 4 and 6 kilometres respectively, start at Storuman’s ski stadium. There is also a 1-kilometre sprint track.
