Holiday apartment in Bjuv: church, Gruvmuseet and Söderåsen

Bjuv combines medieval church art, traces of its mining heritage and a wide range of leisure activities with its proximity to Söderåsen’s natural landscapes. Bjuvs kyrka itself reaches far back into the history of the town: the chancel and nave, the oldest parts of the church, were built in the second half of the 12th century. The tower, porch and vaults were added in the 15th century and were also decorated at that time. The church also contains fragments of 15th-century lime paintings.

Culture and history

The Gruvmuseet also preserves an important part of the local past. It is housed in the engine house of Shaft III on the mining site at the end of Ågatan in Bjuv. The museum offers guided tours, which can be booked year-round by calling 042-458 52 35 or by emailing info@bjuv.se. Bjuvs konsthall provides another cultural highlight, regularly hosting exhibitions. Following its renovation, the library in Bjuv is open to visitors again and is located in newly renovated, more accessible premises.

Leisure and exercise

The Friluftsbadet i Bjuv outdoor swimming pool is located in the centre of Bjuv, 450 metres, or a five-minute walk, north of the railway station. The pool complex includes a large swimming pool measuring 17.5 × 50 metres, with a depth of 1.30 to 1.80 metres. There is also a teaching pool measuring 6 × 17.5 metres and 80 centimetres deep, as well as a round children’s pool with a diameter of ten metres and a depth of 15 centimetres.

The skatepark is located in the middle of Bjuv, in Folkets husparken. Skateboards, inline skates, kick scooters and BMX bikes can be used there. The skatepark is open for large parts of the day and is free for everyone. There is also an outdoor gym next to Folkets husparken, on the way to Friluftsbadet. Bjuvs discgolfbana disc golf course has nine holes. In addition, there are motor skills courses at the schools: during the day, they can be used by preschools and schools, and in the evenings and at weekends by everyone else.

Nature and regional trails

Bjuv is located near Söderåsen, with its beautiful natural landscapes and hiking trails. In the wider regional area around Bjuv, Söderåsen National Park offers hikes through valleys covered with beech forest, along steep slopes and beside flowing waters. There are also views across the landscape of Skåne. This means that within the town, cultural attractions, exercise and swimming facilities are complemented by another regional natural area with a variety of landscapes.
