Platja de Gandía – Coast, Dunes and Water Sports

Platja de Gandía has more than five kilometres of fine-sand coastline. A particularly clearly defined beach section is Playa Nord: it stretches for more than three kilometres and covers 300,000 m² of fine sand. A long total coastline and a precisely quantified beach section stand side by side when considering the area. The different area and length figures help you read the coast as a series of individual beach areas.

Coast

Playa Nord is an urban beach with safety, quality and environmental certifications. It offers accessible walkways, sports areas, lifeguards, police surveillance and three bathing areas adapted for people with reduced mobility. Sunshade and sun lounger hire, beach bars and further sports areas complement the facilities on the beach. At Playa Nord, different elements therefore stand side by side: certified beach quality, supervised areas, facilities for people with reduced mobility and opportunities for a longer stay by the water.

Activities

In Gandia, officially approved centres and schools offer numerous water-based activities: dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet skiing, rowing, kayaking, fishing, catamaran trips and stand-up paddleboarding. Playa Nord has volleyball courts, basketball hoops, football goals, a kite area and children's playgrounds, as well as sunshade and sun lounger hire, beach bars and sports areas. The types of activity can be considered separately when planning your day: water activities, movement on the sand, play and time spent at the beach. The offerings differ not only by location but also by the type of movement involved: on the water, they range from sailing and surfing to rowing, kayaking and fishing; on land, ball games, the kite area and playgrounds are added. Dividing them into water, movement, play and time spent at the beach makes it easier not to base the day's itinerary on just one type of activity.

Nature

Playa de l'Auir is an authorised and signposted nudist beach. Along this beach, around two kilometres of dune formations with native vegetation extend. Raised walkways make it possible to enter the dune area of Playa de l'Auir while taking the dunes, flora and fauna into consideration. Here, a signposted beach section, an approximate dune length, native vegetation and raised walkways come together. The landscape therefore stands independently alongside the more extensively equipped Playa Nord.

Orientation

On the Paseo Marítimo, you can walk, run, skate and cycle on the cycle path. Two tourist information offices known as “Faros” are located on Gandia beach, both directly on the Paseo Marítimo. The promenade thus combines different modes of transport with two named information points. For day planning, routes and information points can therefore be considered separately from the water, play, sports and nature offerings.
