Playa El Rey in Mareny de Barraquetes is located in Albufera Natural Park. Along 900 metres of coastline, fine sand meets a still-preserved belt of dunes. The seafront promenade is suitable for walking and enjoying views of the sea. Strong summer winds make Playa El Rey a suitable place for windsurfing. The coast, dune belt, promenade and summer wind thereby show different aspects of a day at the beach, without walking and windsurfing implying the same use of the place described. This keeps the beach features and the wind-dependent activity clearly distinguishable from one another.
Playa El Rey is accessible to people with disabilities. It can be reached on foot or by car from Mareny de Barraquetes; the access points are signposted. Playa El Rey has an unattended car park, as well as an intercity bus that travels close to the beach. On summer Sunday afternoons, a market takes place at Playa El Rey.
A holiday apartment in Mareny de Barraquetes adds a practical dimension to the local information. The listing pages present travel dates, accommodation category and cancellation policies as separate details alongside one another. They describe the selected period, the type of accommodation and the booking conditions, and can therefore be considered separately from the landscape, route, festival and gastronomy topics of this place.
Nature and routes
The officially approved SL-CV 150 hiking trail is currently in operation and runs through rice fields and irrigation channels. From Sueca, it follows Avenida del Mar towards the districts of Dels Palmeres and Mareny de Barraquetes, up to a junction with a country path leading to Ermita dels Sants. In the 2026 Circuit Ribera de Xúquer, the XVII Volta a Peu Mareny de Barraquetes is listed as a 7.1-kilometre race.
The hiking trail and the race can be considered as two different formats for planning the day; the route and the race distance remain separate. When planning your visit, the coast, routes, festivals, market and gastronomy can be treated as different topics alongside one another.
