Cheste – Culture, Nature and Holiday Apartments
In Cheste, the Circuit Ricardo Tormo offers public motorcycle track sessions: visitors can ride their own motorcycles on the racetrack there.
Culture and Townscape
Graffitea is an urban art project supported by the cultural department of the Ayuntamiento de Cheste, featuring murals at various locations throughout the municipality. It comprises more than 100 artistically valuable interventions that have turned Cheste into an open-air museum, as well as talks, discussion panels, screenings and practical workshops.
The Ruta Urbana leads through Cheste town centre and visits emblematic buildings and places; some stops are supplemented by short explanatory panels. The Iglesia Parroquial de San Lucas Evangelista has several chapels and interesting sculptures. The Ermita de la Virgen de la Soledad is a Neoclassical chapel built on the site of an older 16th-century temple.
Nature
On the outskirts of the municipality of Cheste, Parque de La Lomiquia was created through the ecological restoration of a degraded site previously used as a village dumping ground. The park covers more than 55,000 m²; paths run through it and provide access to a variety of natural features.
Its pond provides mallards (Anas platyrhynchos), Eurasian teals (Anas crecca) and frogs (Pelophylax perezi) with food, water or shelter.
Festivals and Wine
The Fiesta de la Vendimia in Cheste is celebrated in honour of the patron saint San Lucas Evangelista and in gratitude for the harvest received. Its programme begins with the Pisá de la uva and includes, among other events, bull parades with horses, rural bull runs, processions and folk dancing.
FIVAMOS is an annual Moscatel event featuring presentations and tastings of typical products, wine tastings, food pairings and visits to the participating municipalities of Chiva, Godelleta and Cheste.
Active Routes
The local hiking trail SL-CV 77 Sendero del Barranco Hondo, supported by the Ayuntamiento de Cheste, is 10.20 km long; the theoretical walking time is three hours, and quality control is subject to conditions.
For planning your own day, the formats can be organised by type of activity and time frame. A specified walking time appears alongside the town route, the park paths and the track session as a differently described option for structuring the day.
When considering a holiday apartment in Cheste, you can compare travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions. This information provides structure for your personal booking decision. You can compare the three points at your leisure and then focus on culture, nature, wine or activity.
