Nature

The Paraje Natural Municipal Castillo de Arenós covers 32.510 hectares and is characterised by a small 770-metre-high hill beside the Arenós Reservoir in the upper course of the Mijares River. Another natural feature is the Pozo de las Palomas: it is a natural swimming pool formed by the Mijares River between La Monzona and Los Cantos. Culture

It was built after the castle was Christianised and is listed as an archaeological site in the Inventario General del Patrimonio Cultural Valenciano.

Traditions

Puebla de Arenoso’s patron saint festivals in honour of San Mateo and the Virgen de Loreto take place during the week of 21 September. Local residents recently revived it after it had not taken place since Campos de Arenoso disappeared as a result of the construction of the reservoir.
