Culture

The Iglesia de San Vicente Ferrer was built in 1803 on the site of an older hermitage. It is neoclassical and located on the Plaza de España.

The MUA presents around twenty temporary exhibitions per season. The Museo del Ferrocarril displays historical material from the former San Vicente railway station, including signs, photographs and parts of the former station furnishings. The Museo de la Universidad de Alicante presents changing scientific, artistic and cultural history exhibitions.

A building from the 19th century, erected around 1887, has a main façade considered Modernist; three stone semicircular arches and the town coat of arms are among its most distinctive features. The Museo Didáctico del Aceite offers a guided tour explaining the traditional olive oil production process.

Nature

The Jardín Vertical is six storeys high and covers 340 square metres; 34,000 specimens grow on the wall. Selected native herbaceous and shrub species with low water and maintenance requirements are used. The Parque Presidente Adolfo Suárez covers 80,000 square metres and includes tree-covered areas, meadows, two artificial lagoons and wetlands.

Trails and activity

Sant Vicent del Raspeig/San Vicente del Raspeig is the reference municipality for the 19.39-kilometre linear hiking trail PR-CV 282 Camí de la Sendera. The trail begins in Parque Hort lo Torrent and ends where it crosses the Cañada Real in Platet de Tochar.

The Ruta del Sabinar - Minas de Ocre runs entirely through the ZEPA Riu Montnegre, a special protection area for birds. It passes through the Valle del Sabinar and the Barrancos del Juncaret and del Cocons. More than 100 different breeding, resident and migratory bird species have been recorded in the area.

Parque Lo Torrent has a mountain bike course. Bicisanvi is a free municipal bicycle rental service promoted by the San Vicente del Raspeig town council. Different route lengths and landscapes help you compare hiking days with cycling excursions.

For planning your days, the activities differ in format: exhibitions and guided tours offer different experiences from trails, courses and bicycle rental; festivals and the traditional dish complement this selection with seasonal and culinary impressions.

Festivals and flavour

At Moros y Cristianos, there is a musical band parade; staged Moorish and Christian messages also take place at the castle gate, followed by a battle. During Les Fogueres, decorated streets are among the oldest and most beautiful traditions. During the Cremà, the festival monuments made of cardboard, stone or wood are burned, bringing the festival to an end. On Tuesday at lunchtime, it is traditional to eat “putxero amb tarongetes”.
