Culture

Documentary evidence for Torrealta dates back to the 17th century; the oldest document mentioned among them is dated 1652. Historic buildings include the old hermitage dedicated to the Virgen de los Remedios, which was built in Torrealta in 1879. The Parroquia Ntra. Sra. de los Remedios has also recently undergone extensive restoration.

The Vía Crucis Viviente is considered a traditional Holy Week event in La Torrealta. Its current form has been documented since 1998, while its origins date back to 1982. It expands the traditional fourteen Stations of the Cross with a fifteenth station called La Resurrección. A free guided tour begins at the Plaza de la Iglesia in La Torrealta and includes the church, the Centro Cultural Fulgencio Campillo, the headquarters of the Asociación Cultural La Cruz de Torrealta, as well as the locations and settings of the Vía Crucis Viviente.

Landscape

Torrealta developed around the old district of La Mola, a prominent hill offering views over the surrounding flat landscape. A section of the Rambla de los Manresas also runs through the area. Its vegetation consists mainly of esparto grass, everlasting flowers, boloaga, tamarisks and reeds.

The few remaining cultivated areas in Torrealta, with lemon and orange trees, create a Huerta landscape typical of Murcia. In the Huerta of Molina de Segura, La Torrealta is one of the more populous pedanías. The Huerta pedanías of La Ribera de Molina, La Torrealta and Llano de Molina share the waters of the Segura with Molina de Segura for growing fruit and vegetables; the water is supplied through irrigation channels.

Local life

The weekly market in La Torrealta takes place every Wednesday throughout the year. It includes stalls selling fruit, vegetables, nuts, pickled goods and other food products.

The Campo de Béisbol de La Torrealta has been extensively renovated so that games can be played there under federation standards.
