La Tercia is situated on flat terrain at the foot of the Sierra de Columbares and the Sierra de Villares. The Asociación de Vuelo Libre La Tercia places a particular focus on birds and nature with its range of activities: it organises guided walks during the day with a free-flying bird, as well as guided walks at night without a bird.

Nature

The Asociación de Vuelo Libre La Tercia also operates a bird conservation centre that takes in and cares for injured, vulnerable or abandoned wild birds. In addition, it offers educational tours and talks about birds, both at its own centre and in schools. Alongside the guided walks, the focus is therefore also on caring for wild birds and sharing knowledge about them. Landscape

In the area of Gea y Truyols, dry farming as well as olive, almond and carob trees shape the agriculture. Citrus fruits, especially lemons, have also been introduced. Within the same administrative area, a landscape with Mediterranean, xerophytic low woodland and significant stands of conifers extends across the area. Paths and forest tracks run along the foot of the Sierra de Columbares and El Garruchal. The landscape thus combines agriculturally shaped areas with dry woodland communities and a network of paths and forest tracks.

In various parts of the Pedanía Gea y Truyols, manor houses from former agricultural estates, as well as the remains of old cisterns and grain mills, are still visible. These traces point to former agricultural structures, without necessarily implying a uniform appearance of the locality. A large cistern outside the village is rectangular in shape, has a vaulted roof and two settling basins; its surroundings form part of a landscape zone.

Culture

The cultural year in Gea y Truyols includes several regular events. Holy Week includes a procession on Maundy Thursday. The San Isidro festival features an outdoor activity as well as invitations to arroz con conejo or Migas. The patron saint’s festival of Virgen del Carmen is celebrated for two weeks in July and includes numerous events and celebrations. The finale includes a float procession, a mass, a floral offering, a procession and a fireworks display.

A historic building is the Torre Molina on the road from Gea y Truyols to Los Martínez del Puerto. It was built in the 19th century by the family of the Marquis of Molins. The cisterns are also part of the history of the water supply: one cistern used to supply the village with water, when there was not yet a modern drinking-water supply and water had to be stored in cisterns and wells for years of drought.
