La Palma: Lace-Making and Folklore

The collection at the Museo del Bolillo de La Palma includes tablecloths, lace trims, towels, cushions and appliqués. Juegos Florales and regional tradition

The Juegos Florales de La Palma began in March 1957 and continue to this day. Another cultural feature is La Palma’s typical dress, which corresponds to the traditional dress of the Campo de Cartagena. The 2025 festival programme shows how varied a single edition can be: in addition to its venues, it included a joint photo exhibition featuring 20 photographers from the Región de Murcia. Workshops for children and adults were also on the programme. Another edition, identified as the XXXII, was announced for La Palma. There is also a specific, but date-dependent, reference point for Holy Week: the 2026 Holy Week programme listed a Palm Sunday procession by the Cofradía de las Ánimas La Palma in La Palma at 11:30 a.m. For later years, consult the relevant calendar. The cultural offerings therefore differ in how far ahead they can be planned: the museum collection represents a lasting cultural highlight, while processions and festival programmes take place on specific dates.
