Culture and History

The present-day Church of San Andrés in Zudaire is an extension of an earlier Gothic church; the former chancel and a pointed-arch window have survived from it. At the end of the 17th century, San Andrés was rebuilt and extended.

The Molino de Zudaire was later converted into a sawmill. At the beginning of the century, it was considered the most prestigious mill in the two Améscoas.

The proposed circular trail through Améscoa Baja connects the settlements in the region and makes it possible to learn about their customs—including calera and carbonera—as well as their civil and religious architecture.
